Bremen

Bremen is a major cultural and economic hub in the northern region of Germany. It is home to dozens of historical galleries and museums and a large number of multinational companies and manufacturing centres including the Hachez chocolate company and Becks brewery. Four-time German football champions Werder Bremen are also based in the city.

Bremen is some 60 km south of the mouth of the Weser on the North Sea. Bremen and Bremerhaven (at the mouth of the Weser) together comprise the state of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.

Bremen is equipped with an international airport situated only 10 min away from the city centre, and a well-connected main train station, making it easy to reach. Many destinations can be reached by foot from the city centre. For places further away, other than cycling, the best way to get around in Bremen is using the BSAG (Bremen bus and tram system). You can find ticket types, prices, as well as timetables and connections on the BSAG website

How to make your way to MARUM

Whether you arrive at Bremen Airport (BRE) or at the main train station, the easiest way to reach the university is by public transport. Tram line 6 (direction "Universität") goes directly to the university. Get off at the stop "Universität/Zentralbereich", from there it is only a short walk to the MARUM building.

Exiting the tram, you will have to cross the street and go up the stairs to the Campus Boulevard. Just walk straight towards the end of the Boulevard, past the Mensa building. There is a staircase back down onto the street level, keep right and follow that street called Leobener Strasse. On the left side of the street, you will already see the MARUM I building.
