Scientific Profile

Biosketch

Leonardo Tamborrino is a marine geoscientist with a PhD in Marine Geosciences from MARUM - University of Bremen. His research focuses on marine sedimentology, carbonate systems, and the reconstruction of past environmental and oceanographic conditions, with particular emphasis on cold-water coral mounds. He has participated in several international research expeditions, including IODP Expedition 390/393. Leonardo’s background spans academic research, offshore geophysics, and applied marine data management, bridging fundamental science with operational and societal applications. Since January 2026, Leonardo is the Mission Manager of the DAM mission mareXtreme.
