The applicant needs to be a person with an active affiliation with university or recognised research institute. The applicant, supervisor and collaboration partner are held responsible for upholding the regulations of the user agreement.
It is important to note that all samples from CBi originate from within the EEZ of West Sahara / Morocco. As such any planned sample utilization falls under the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Regulation on implementation of the Nagoya Protocol (NP) obligations in the European Union (EU Regulation No 511/2014). Even if your planned utilization is not NP relevant, or the samples have been retrieved before 2014, there still maybe national ABS rules of the original provider country that apply!
The Cape Blanc sediment trap management team is, as provider of sample material, not responsible for obtaining any required permission for any sample utilization plans. Clarifying whether permission are required and obtaining these permissions is the responsibility of the group of researchers that analyze the sample material and publish the results of these analyses.
