MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen has a new directorate. The biogeochemist Prof. Kai-Uwe Hinrichs as Director, the marine geologist Prof. Elda Miramontes and the marine biologist Prof. Kai Bischof as Deputy Directors will lead the MARUM Research Faculty for a period of six years, starting October 1.

 

The new team replaces the current directorate with Prof. Michael Schulz and Prof. Monika Rhein. Michael Schulz has headed MARUM for twelve years. His time as Director included successful applications for Cluster of Excellence funding in 2012 and 2019, the extension of MARUM’s infrastructure of large-scale equipment for studies of the ocean floor and the establishment of MARUM in the national and international research landscape.
