From October 6 to 9, 2025, the Meeting & Status Seminar 2025 of the DFG Priority Programme "Tropical Climate Variability & Coral Reefs" (SPP 2299) will take place at the University of Bremen. The meeting will bring together more than 50 researchers from Germany and abroad to engage in discussions and lectures aimed at exchanging ideas on tropical climate extremes, global coral bleaching events, and the response of corals to past, present, and future heat stress.

The DFG Priority Programme "Tropical Climate Variability & Coral Reefs" (SPP 2299) is coordinated by Dr. Thomas Felis at the MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences. The programme brings together over 40 researchers from 15 institutions across Germany (10 universities, 3 Helmholtz Centres, 1 Max Planck Institute, 1 Leibniz Centre). It aims to improve our understanding of tropical climate variability and its impacts on coral reef ecosystems in a warming world.
