Elected Representatives for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Researchers
The main governance body of MARUM is its Center Council. According to the Higher Education Framework Act, four research associates represent doctoral and postdoctoral researchers on the Center Council. These can be either doctoral or postdoctoral researchers, or senior scientists with a permanent contract.
Additionally, we provide doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at MARUM with the opportunity to elect representatives from their community. These representatives are invited as guests (i.e. non-voting members) to all Center Council meetings and to biannual meetings with the Board of Directors, where they can discuss the potential needs and issues of their community.
