Software

Free software available at https://github.com/garciapintado:

  • SpatialGraph: An R package with utilities for spatial networks. For example, it has been applied to support assimilation of satellite Synthetic Aperture Radar data into 2DSWE for flood forecast, including inversion of channel bathymetry.
  • rDAF: R Data Assimilation Framework: an R package to support 4D structured assimilation.
  • rdafEbm1d: A collection of functions as interface to rDAF to conduct data assimilation with the one-dimensional climate model Ebm1D (Paul, 2018).
  • rdafCESM: An R package as an interface to rDAF to conduct coupled data assimilation with the Earth system model CESM. The IO operations between R and the F90 CESM code are conducted via standard netCDF files, as generated by CESM. The coupled assimilation is made possible by sequentially analyzing layers by layer (or layer blocks) in the ocean and the atmosphere components. The software is not designed for efficiency, but as a prototyping tool, which actually by MPI parallelization allows for real coupled analysis of climate observations when the dimension of the observational dataset is moderate. Operations for climate averages and statistics are supported by NCO operators, which are called online from the R interface.
  • topHSPF: An F90 hydrologic-hydraulic model with an R data assimilation interface for point time-series and satellite SSM observations. The hydrological model is a vectorized version of the PWATER module of the original HSPF model, where all vertical moisture balance in the water column is evaluated in a cell-by-cell basis. The hydrologic model is then strongly coupled, at each time step, to a distributed overland flow routing. Two overland flow schemes are available: a very fast cell-to-cell kinematic routing, and a complete 2D shallow water equations model (a branch version of Geoclaw, originally designed for dams and tsunamis ---which are not as sensitive to fine scale parameterization and exact grid collocation and interpolation as flood forecasting---).
  • Rift2Ridge: The public release of Rift2Ridge; a finite-element code for geodynamics with non-Newtonian visco-elasto-plastic rheologies primarily developed in the MARUM Center for Marine Environmental Sciences, University of Bremen. Rift2Ridge solves the momentum, mass and energy conservation equations in a Lagrangian framework.
