Expeditions
Over the past 20 years, our team has led and taken part in more than 25 research expeditions to cold-water coral sites around the world. We have used remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to explore and map these unique deep-sea ecosystems in detail.
To better understand how these coral reefs have evolved over time, we have also collected hundreds of metres of sediment cores from coral mounds, using gravity and piston corers and the MeBo seafloor drilling rig (e.g., at sites off the coast of Mauritania, in the Gulf of Cádiz, and in the western Mediterranean Sea).
