As of today, an art piece enriches the rooms of the MARUM’s Center for Deep-Sea Research at the University of Bremen. The abstract work was given to MARUM – Center for Marine Environmental Sciences at the University of Bremen for the exhibition by Irene Strebl, Bremen's State Councillor for the Environment, Climate and Science, from her private collection to express her appreciation of marine research. It has been installed in the large conference room on the second floor of the Center for Deep-Sea Research (“Zentrum für Tiefseeforschung”, ZfT) and sets an aesthetic accent in the scientific environment.

The handover is intended to emphasize the connection between art and science. MARUM Director Prof. Dr. Kai-Uwe Hinrichs emphasizes that research is not only based on analytical thinking, but also on creativity and inspiration - aspects that are particularly encouraged by art.
