Quantifying evolution of magmatism and serpentinisation during the onset of seafloor spreading

This project is focused on understanding the transition from continental rifting to oceanic spreading at magma-poor margins. For this, we performed the first joint controlled source electromagnetic [CSEM], magnetotelluric [MT] and WAS experiment across a magma-poor continent-ocean transition. The study area is the Goban Spur offshore Ireland and UK. This is a NSFGEO-NERC funded project (PI: Tim Minshull, University of Southampton).
