Wave Glider
The Wave Glider is a commercial product of a long-term, wave-powered, autonomous surface vehicle from Liquid Robotics Inc. from the USA. The vehicle is able to independently carry out scientific measurement tasks over periods of several months. MARUM has been operating this SV3-v100 vehicle for scientific and technical applications since 2014. In 2023 there was a technical upgrade to version SV3-v200. In addition to MARUM, GEOMAR also operates wave glider systems. The working groups involved maintain a close exchange regarding the technology and potential scientific fields of application.
