MARUM Research Academy
DRS 2026
21 - 22 April 2026
at Pescheks Seminarhotel Luisenhof
Worthstr. 10, 27374 Visselhövede
Your contribution
You can choose from three different formats to present your work:
- Talk (10 minutes talk, 5 minutes discussion)
- Poster
- Speed talk (5 minutes talk, 5 minutes discussion; applicable only if you are within the first 6 months of your doctoral research project)
The aim of the presentations is to let the other doctoral researchers know what you are doing. Therefore, we ask you to make your presentations easy to understand for people from other disciplines. This is certainly a challenge, but a good opportunity to practice your public speaking skills. You will receive written feedback from the audience and a prize will be awarded for the best presentation.
For participants who have started within the last 6 months, a speed talk can be a good way to give people an idea of the outline of your project.
Costs
Travel, accommodation and meals will be covered by MARUM Research Academy for those who make an active contribution during the symposium.

The Seminarhotel Luisenhof is located in Visselhövede, about 60 km SE of Bremen. It can be reached via train from Bremen central station.

Organising Committee / Contact
The programme of the 18th Bremen Doctoral Researcher Symposium on Marine Sciences 2026 is organised by the MARUM Research Academy Tina Klose and Vivien Winter ([Bitte aktivieren Sie Javascript]) with the current doctoral researcher representatives of the MARUM Graduate Programme Emily Johns, Mia Krohn and Yannick Zander ([Bitte aktivieren Sie Javascript]).
Registration
The deadline for registration is on 19 February 2026.
Abstract submission
Abstracts should ideally reflect your work and not involve several co-authors. The maximum length is 350 words (better 300).
When writing your abstract, please keep in mind that
- The other participants come from (entirely) different fields,
- There will be 25-30 abstracts you will have to read, so the shorter the better,
- This is a meeting for doctoral researchers, not a conference of experts in your field.
A short overview of your research is sufficient :-)
Please submit your abstract to [Bitte aktivieren Sie Javascript].
The deadline for abstract submission is 26 March 2026.
