The remotely operated vehicle (ROV) MARUM-QUEST 5000 replaces its predecessor, the QUEST 4000, as heavy-duty work-class ROV for modern deep-sea research at MARUM after more than 20 years of service. It was acquired as part of the new "Center for Deep-Sea Research (ZfT)" research building at the University of Bremen and is operated by MARUM. Higher payload capacity, more powerful data transmission and hydraulics, and greater diving depth significantly expand the possibilities for scientific sampling and data collection.

Technically largely compatible with its predecessor, MARUM-QUEST will be deployed in virtually all ocean areas worldwide on various national and international research vessels, starting with Expedition M210 in April/May 2025 on RV Meteor in the Atlantic Ocean off the Azores Islands.
