Terms of use

For use within the framework of DFG projects

The "ROV MARUM QUEST operational costs" cover the costs incurred during operational operations at sea within the framework of DFG-funded projects (operation, scientific adaptation, troubleshooting and troubleshooting, assembly and disassembly, launching, and recovery). The "Project-related transport expenses" include the shipping of the ROV containers from Bremen to the port of departure and back (container and crane provision, container transport for 5 x 20' ISO containers). The "operating personnel travel expenses" include the prices available at the time of the offer for flights for 8 or 9 people from Bremen to the port of departure and from the port of arrival to Bremen, as well as an estimate of the expected overnight costs. Travel expenses (hotel expenses, passenger transport, etc.) for the ROV operating personnel will be billed via the University of Bremen following the trip according to the currently applicable state rates.

A total of three days are estimated for mobilization on board the research vessel, two of which are spent at the departure port. Demobilization at the end of the voyage requires a total of two days, one of which is spent at the arrival port. The general goal is to keep the required port time as short as possible.

The eight operating personnel cover daily diving operations between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. for a maximum of 12 hours. This includes standard preparation and maintenance work of up to six hours per day. Longer dive times require either correspondingly extended deck time or an additional ROV crew (9).

Maps required for planning and conducting dives should be provided by the scientific team well in advance of the dives. Sonar maps or geo-referenced maps of the dive tracks cannot be created by ROV personnel. If this is necessary, a scientific crew member must be dedicated for this task prior to the trip. The creation of scientific protocols during diving operations is also the responsibility of the scientific users. Additional devices and tools that are to be operated, moved, or installed in any way with QUEST require timely registration and, if necessary, coordination before the system is shipped from Bremen. Dates for this will be announced in due course.

The image rights for all underwater images and video material captured during the voyage remain with MARUM, University of Bremen. A corresponding copyright and usage agreement must be signed before or at the start of the voyage. This agreement guarantees access to the material for scientific purposes during and after the voyage and also regulates further use for press and public relations purposes. Data and image storage media for the individual dives will be made available to the cruise leader during the voyage. Copies of underwater video recordings are not normally made at sea. A compilation of important recordings (the so-called "best-of") will be submitted at the end of the voyage, if time permits. Working copies of the remaining material can be made after the voyage in the video laboratory at MARUM in Bremen, subject to prior agreement with the relevant personnel.
