The 2nd International Conference on Seafloor Landforms, Processes and Evolution (ICSLPE) in Lipari, Italy from 1 to 3 July 2024

The 2nd International Conference on Seafloor Landforms, Processes and Evolution was held on the beginning of July, 2024 in the wonderful island Lipari, Italy.
Summer is best time to travel in Sicily with sufficient sun lights, all shops open and welcome us.

On 30 June, I joined the pre-conference field trip. We took the ferries and visited the volcanoes. The organisers showed us the geological background such as when they formed and which rocks were lava flows. Vulcano island is still active, volcanic smokes appear at the summit of Vulcano island. And at the end of the conference, I excitedly climbed Vulcano, and directly touched the volcano.

All sessions in the conference were fantastic, and Oceanography oral part attracted me most because this topic was totally related to my current work showing how the oceanographic processes influence the sedimentary processes. This conference was not such big with around 100 participants, it was easy for us to find and communicate with the persons who do the similar research. I presented a poster entitled “Contourite distribution on the continental slope off NW Ireland, Rockall Trough (NE Atlantic Ocean): genesis and evolution”, and introduced my research for peers. I was happy that my poster was complimented.

Thanks to GLOMAR and group fundings, I can enjoy this interesting conference. It is worthy to attend!
