The MARUM Graduate Programme (formerly known as GLOMAR) brings together doctoral researchers in marine sciences at the University of Bremen and the Constructor University. If you are employed at MARUM, you automatically become part of the programme. Doctoral researchers employed elsewhere and/or receiving a stipend are also welcome to join and enjoy all the benefits.

We support you in acquiring the skills and competencies needed for excellent research and preparing for the next steps in your career. In addition to all offers made by the MARUM Research Academy, members of the graduate programme benefit from a strong network of doctoral researchers from a variety of disciplines and have access to our consulting and coaching services. You can participate in all networking and social events, as well as the annual Bremen Doctoral Researcher Symposium on Marine Sciences.

Members of the MARUM Graduate Programme are supervised by a team as standard. This thesis advisory committee (TAC) consists of the main supervisor and at least two other scientists, one of whom must come from a different working group.

The terms of supervision and mentoring are defined in a compulsory supervision agreement, which is compiled and signed at the start of the doctoral research project. This agreement between the doctoral researcher and their main supervisor outlines mutual responsibilities and expectations, and describes the supervision process and basic framework. Furthermore, it details the research work to be conducted and describes the measures for safeguarding good scientific practice.

Once you have completed your doctoral project, we will issue an Academic Transcript on request. This document will list all your achievements, including conference presentations, research stays, course participation, teaching and public lectures.
